Persephone’s Moth Kit

New in 2025 a stump work embroidery kit for Persephone’s moth. Stumpwork is an embroidery technique that allows for raised embroidery; or in this case a completely three dimensional project. In order for this kit to work an aluminum wire frame is included in the kit as the base for the moth.

These 6 silk moth kits are inspired by real life silk moths and greek mythology. They are stitched with a new non-super wash 50% silk/ 50% wool thread (Subito Farm Fox Hill). This thread is a finer weight than the Estabrook yarn used in our other embroidery kits. The silk also makes these moths work up with a slight shine.

This is an intermediate level kit; however some adventurous beginners may be able to work the project. It is important to be comfortable with buttonhole stitch and tufted turkey work. The silk moth kits are more difficult than the pollinator embroidery kits because they require more detailed stitching.

This unique and fun pattern designed by Meaghan Monroe. Each embroidery kit works up on a 5″ bamboo hoop included in the kit. Everything you need except scissors is included!

This moth makes a great magnet, stand alone decoration, brooch, or companion piece to the native flower embroidery kits by adding your own magnet or pin back (not included) to the underside of the project.
